Returning to the roads: Date set for restored Shiawassee County patrols

SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS)– Shiawassee County deputies are expected to return to the road next month.

The sheriff’s office is aiming to restore county road patrols by August 1. The department hasn’t had any road patrols since January, because of financial issues and a failed millage.

Sheriff’s officials say they’re in the process of hiring court officers and getting them trained and sworn in. Once they are, six deputies currently working in the courts will return to road duty.
