2015 Common Ground Music Festival underway

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Day one of Common Ground has officially kicked off.

The annual music festival in Lansing is one of the most anticipated as big time artist’s line up to perform in front of thousands of people.

“We’ve got nine bands playing tonight, Jenna Meyer, Marketing Director for Common Ground said. “We’ve got some sponsor activations going on tonight and lots of great food vendors down here as well.”

The 16th annual opener of Common Ground is underway with a whole week planned full of music–and activities.

“This week we’ve got The Band Perry coming up on Thursday with Parmalee and Old Dominion Wednesday… tomorrow night is Jane’s Addiction..Friday is Three Days Grace, Saturday is Snoop Dogg and Wale…Sunday is Empire of the Sun and Flaming Lips,” Meyer said.

“I’m here to see Bea Miller,” one fan, Bri Baughman said.  “Because I like her song Fire and Gold.”

Bea Miller kicked off the first of many performances Tuesday, she was one group of girls favorite performer.

But among the many artists in the lineup this week, there seems to be a crowd favorite.

“Well not to sound kind of basic, but Snoop Dogg is one, Wale…. just the hip hop thing in general,” Cleo Goldman said.

“I’m a fan of Wale..he’s ok….and Snoop Dogg..his music is really nice,” Tommy Manuel said.

“My favorite personally.. I’m into rap like Wale, Snoop Dogg, Tech N9ne is coming this year.. I was looking forward to Meghan Trainer but she didn’t come, but we have a lot of great artists lined up this year,” Jeffrey Medina said.

“I think we’re just looking forward to a great lineup,” Jenna Meyer said. “there’s some great live bands playing so if you haven’t bought your ticket yet we recommend on doing so because there’s still tickets available.”

Of course the week-long event runs until Sunday, tickets are $40 and there are a lot more artists in the line-up for the week ahead.
