Victims of deadly highway crash identified

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Ingham County Sheriff’s deputies are releasing the names of the four victims in a deadly highway crash.

The crash happened on Interstate-96 at the northbound US-127 exit just after 6 a.m. Monday.

Deputies say a vehicle veered off the highway and hit a tree, killing  the driver, 23-year-old Tariq Strong of Lincoln Park.

Rescuers freed the three remaining passengers from the wreckage and took them to an area hospital, where one of them, 19-year-old Madison Cook of Gibraltar, died.  The two others– 19-year-old Gina Badia of Southgate and 18-year-old Megan Ockerman of Dearborn— were last listed in critical condition.

Investigators believe drugs played a role in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
