City council passes Greater Lansing Taxi agreement

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Regulations for local taxi and driver services will now have a broader reach in the mid-Michigan area.

The Lansing City Council passed an agreement to expand the Greater Lansing Taxi to Meridian, Delta and Lansing townships as well Michigan State University.

Before only Lansing and East Lansing were covered by the regulations.

Drivers for the popular mobile-app Uber have been against the authority since it was created last year. While changes were made to the taxi authority, the city council decided to delay the appointment of Ken Ross to an at large seat on the Lansing Water and Light board and re-appointment of Anthony McCloud for the third ward.

The city council decided to hold off on the decision until July 13th. If appointed both of their terms would last for four years.
