RICHMOND, VA. (MEDIA GENERAL)— If you’re looking for the most patriotic place to celebrate this Fourth of July, look no further than Virginia.

The “birthplace of presidents” tops WalletHub’s newest list of most patriotic states.

Eight presidents were born in Virginia, including four of the first five U.S. leaders. The namesake of one of those presidents, Washington State, ranked second on WalletHub’s patriotic list.

New York came in last place.

The rankings are based on eight areas, including military engagement, volunteer rates, voting habits and civil education requirements. Georgia had the highest rate of military enlistment; North Dakota ranked last. The highest concentration of veterans could be found in Alaska; New York had the lowest.

While Utah had the highest volunteer rate, the highest concentration of Peace Corps volunteers could be found in Vermont.

WalletHub also found Minnesota had the best turnout during the last presidential election; Arizona had the lowest turnout.
