UPDATE 2:24 p.m. – Ingham County Sheriff’s Office investigators now believe drugs were a factor in a crash that took two lives this morning. The driver, a 23-year-old male, died at the scene. A 19-year-old female passenger died later in a local hospital. Two other females, one 19-years old and the other 18-years-old, remain hospitalized. All four are from the Detroit area. Their names will not be released.
UPDATE 7:22 a.m. – A second person has died as a result of injuries from a one-vehicle crash this morning. The accident happened just after 6:00 a.m. when, according to investigators, a vehicle left the eastbound I-96 exit ramp to northbound US-127. The vehicle struck a tree, trapping all four victims in the wreckage. 6 News is told the driver died at the scene. The second person died an hour later at a local hospital.
The exit ramp continues to be closed until the investigation concludes.

UPDATE 7:56 a.m. – Police tell 6 News that one person has died in an one-vehicle crash at the eastbound I-96 exit ramp to northbound US-127. The ramp has been closed to traffic during the accident investigation. Three other people in the vehicle are being taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – If you are driving on eastbound I-96 at the northbound US-127 exit be prepared for delays this morning.
Emergency crews are on the scene of a one car accident with at least four people pinned in the vehicle. According to officials the car left the road and hit a tree just after 6:00 a.m.
It is not known now the extent of the injuries but multiple ambulances are on the scene.
