UPDATE: Lansing Police investigate overnight shooting

UPDATE 9:02 a.m. – Lansing Police tell 6 News that three people began fighting inside the home and soon the fight continued outside. Police say at that point one of the suspects shot the victim in the stomach. Police arrested two people in connection with the shooting and short chase that followed.

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Police have one suspect in custody who they believe shot a woman in the stomach last night.

Officials say it happened around 11:30 at a home on the 700 block of Bates Street on the city’s north side.

According to Lansing police officials after the shooting the 25-year-old victim ran to the Taco Bell restaurant nearby to call for help. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police say the shooting suspect lead officers on a short chase but was arrested soon after. The second suspect was arrested later at a house on 1100 block of Martin Luther King Blvd.

According to police the shooting was not random but they are still searching for a motive.
