UPDATE 7:50 a.m. – At least thirteen people have been forced to find temporary housing after a fire damages two apartments overnight. One person was taken to a local hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. Fire investigators are still looking for what caused the fire that began just after 10:30 p.m. last night.
LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Everyone is safe after an apartment fire Thursday night.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of E. Kalamazoo Street at the Lansing Park Apartments.
Firefighters were able to go inside the building and put the flames out. Around 11 p.m. they were checking for hot spots on the building’s roof. The majority of the damage our crew on scene saw was on the second floor.
One person did need medical attention due to smoke inhalation.
Another person opened their door and saw smoke coming from the hallway. The man then climbed out of his bathroom window, before jumping to the ground below.
