ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – The high-end watchmaker and bicycle retailer Shinola Detroit has opened a store in downtown Ann Arbor.
Our media partners at MLive report that the store also sells leather notebooks and sporting goods such as leather basketballs footballs, baseballs and gloves. The store is in a former gallery. It occupies two floors with a downstairs lounge that complements an upstairs coffee shop.
Renovations began in February. The company hung one of its clocks outside the store last month.
Daniel Caudill is the creative director for Shinola. He says Ann Arbor is a “perfect cross section of who our customer is.”
The Detroit-based business started in 2011. It is owned by Dallas-based Bedrock Manufacturing and Swiss watch components producer Ronda.
Other store locations include Manhattan, Chicago, Los Angeles and London.
