BROOKLYN, MI (WLNS) – Michigan International Speedway is certainly known for its racing, but what about the food?
They have everything from gluten free to chicken and waffles on a stick.
At MIS the food may not be taking center stage, but there is quite a lot of it.
“We have a new North wood stand, so we want to cater to some of the Canadian folks travel across the border to come to some of our races so we’re doing a traditional poutine, we’re doing a nice pea meal bacon sandwich with a cranberry relish we have our new chicken and waffles stand that’s going on here,” said Carl VanWagner, MIS, executive chef.
But that’s not all. There are also wrap stations as well as gluten free options.
It’s all a part of catering to a wide audience and providing gourmet quality, even with the chicken and waffles.
“So I start with a nice chicken thigh meat it stays nice and moist a little bit longer with a little bit extra content of fat that it has in it we take that we toss it with a nice Cajun seasoning after that I roast it off in the oven we square it, we dip it in a nice bacon waffle batter and then we drizzle it with a pure Michigan maple syrup.”
