LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Creativity and appreciation of Michigan’s aquatic resources are themes of the second annual Grand American Fish Rodeo Festival in Lansing.
The two-day event gets underway Friday at Adado Riverfront Park on the banks of the Grand River in Lansing.
Among the activities will be a fishing tournament, live music, boat rides and canoe and kayak races.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will sponsor an education tent with hands-on exhibits and other free attractions. A display about invasive species will feature live sea lamprey, which are eel-like creatures that attach their mouths to other fish and feed off their bodily fluids.
There also will be live sturgeon, a threatened species in Michigan.
