Toyota kicks off construction on $126 million expansion

YORK TOWNSHIP, MI (AP) – Toyota Motor Corp. is kicking off construction on a $126 million expansion to its Ann Arbor-area research and development operations.

The Japanese automaker announced in December that it planned the investment in expanding its powertrain operations in Washtenaw County’s Ann Arbor Township and consolidating vehicle development operations at a new facility in nearby York Township.

Thursday’s ceremony is at the York Township site, where two buildings will be constructed. Toyota says it the work will be key in Toyota’s future in North America.
