Synthetic drug popping up on Michigan shelves

(WLNS) – We have a warning to pass along this morning for e-cigarette users.

State police say a new synthetic drug has popped up on store shelves and it is making people sick. It is called Darth Vapor.

Our media partners at WHMI report the synthetic drug has already sent some people to the hospital.

State police say it mimics the effects of marijuana but can also cause loss of motor control, seizures, stoppage of breathing, heart failure and even a coma.

It seems the makers borrowed the name from a credible e-cigarette company based in California who has since posted an alert online that their name is currently being used to market a dangerous drug in Michigan.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
