LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A suspect in the cold case murder out of Lansing finally had his day in court Wednesday.
For three and a half years, Herbert Alford has been the main suspect in the 2011 shooting death of 23-year-old Michael Adams. Last week, a team of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies tracked him down in Detroit and arrested him.
Police say Alford shot and killed Adams outside of a shopping center on Pleasant Road and Homes Road.
Alford is charged with open murder and two other felonies.
Wednesday, he briefly appeared in court before proceedings were temporarily adjourned. He’s expected back in court on July 13.
