DETROIT, MI (WLNS) – An all-time classic has a brand new look and today, Camaro fans got their chance to take it all in at the grand unveiling in Belle Isle in Detroit.
After four years in the making, Chevrolet unveiled this 6th Generation “Muscle Car,” the New Camaro, and according to super fans GM delivered.
“Actually, I’m impressed with what GM did especially Chevrolet considering what they did with the mustang and having to combat the mustang,” Michael Radachi said.
“Oh it’s awesome,” Roxanne England said. “It’s a sharp looking car..I have a 2012 but this might be my next car.”
One of the biggest features that separates this car, from the 5th Generation, is its weight , it’s lighter and more fuel efficient.
“I love it, I think it’s awesome,” Joshua Maldonado said. “When they first rolled it out at first I was like, it doesn’t really look that different but then I just kept staring at it, It kept turning and the paint.”
This generation features the very first turbo charge Camaro, we’re talking about a muscle car that will go zero to 60 in six seconds, higher levels of technology and performance, and also new interior.
But there’s something extra special about this unveiling for those of us in Mid-Michigan.
“It’s a great vehicle,” Michael Trevorrow, Plant Manager for the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant said. “It’s got a long history we get to build on that history now I mean we have announced that Lansing Grand River will build the 6th generation.”
President of UAW Local 652, Mike Green, Agrees.
“Our members are stoked, getting ready to build this car, put it out to the public we’re very happy that the American muscle car is coming back home to the USA and right to Lansing Michigan,” Green said.
It’s a reveal that not only revs up the Camaro fan base, but revs up the Lansing economy as well because the Camaro will be made here in Lansing at the Grand River Assembly Plant.
