Fiery car crash into building shuts down street

DELHI TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – Officials from several police and fire department had their hands full Tuesday afternoon working to put out a car and building fire.

The crash happened shortly after 2 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Cedar Street in Delhi Township, at the former TNT Pools building. South Cedar Street had to be shut down while emergency crews worked to put the fire out and cleanup the accident.

Officials say a man drove into the building, crashing his car. The building then caught fire, prompting officials to shut off the gas.

Consumers Energy, Delhi Twp. fire and police, Lansing fire and Mason fire were all on scene to help.

A witness tells 6 News the driver hit a gas line and the building immediately burst into flames. The witness says the driver is out of the car.

The driver’s condition is unknown at this time.
