Taylor verdict: Guilty but mentally ill

MASON, MI (WLNS) – A jury has found Ricard Taylor guilty but mentally ill in the deaths of pharmacist Michael Addo and Jordan Rogers last year.

The jury deliberated for less than four hours to reach the verdict.

One year ago today Taylor entered the Rite Aid Pharmacy near Frandor and shot pharmacist Michael Addo to death. Taylor then drove to East Lansing where he shot and killed Jordan Rogers, his next door neighbor. Reportedly the two had quarreled the previous night.

During the trial there was testimony that Taylor had been having delusions and saw werewolves. There was also testimony that Taylor was paranoid and had a history of mental issues.

A witness for the prosecution said Taylor knew right from wrong at the time of the shooting.

6 News reporter Nick Perreault has been following the Taylor trial closely. He’ll have more tonight on 6 News at 6.
