27 tornadoes reported, 3 more Monday in Continental U.S.

(WLNS) – More severe storms are possible for later this week in an already demolished part of the central U.S.

More than two dozen tornadoes have touched down from Texas all the way up to South Dakota.

Between Texas and Arkansas, five people are confirmed dead.

Officials in the small Texas town of Van say they have accounted for everyone reported missing after a deadly EF3 tornado destroyed dozens of homes. In Arkansas a couple died when a twister hit their mobile home in Nashville. Their daughter who was also in the home at the time survived.

According to the National Weather Service, 27 tornadoes touched down on Sunday in the Continental U.S. and another three on Monday.
