UPDATE 12:05 p.m. The dedication ceremony of the U.S. Post Office building in Jackson is complete. Congressman Tim Walberg was one of several speakers at this morning’s event. 6 News Jackson bureau reporter Genna Hilgenbrink was a the event and will have a complete report tonight on 6 News.

JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – Another U.S. Congressman is making a trip to Michigan today to honor a Jackson police officer killed in the line of duty.

U.S. Representative Tim Walberg will be on hand to officially rename the U.S. Post Office in downtown Jackson the “Officer James Bonneau Memorial Post Office.”

President Obama signed legislation approving the name change in December.

Walberg will be joined by Bonneau’s parents Amy and Marc.

James Bonneau was shot and killed while following up on a domestic disturbance complaint in May of 2010.
