LANSING, MI (WLNS) – The Habitat for Humanity Lansing Women Build got a helping hand from two teams of 6 News women Monday.
From swinging hammers to running power tools and putting up walls, the team did it all.
Throughout last week and Monday teams of 10 women at a time spent hours working to literally build a better future for a deserving family.
On Monday the women of 6 News got right to work.
We finished an outside wall with insulation and then used the ever popular Sawzall to cut out the windows.
We also started to construct a shed that stands at the back of the home on Forest Avenue.
All in all, it was an empowering afternoon.
“Habitat for Humanity build sites are amazing for team building, regardless of whether it’s your cohort who normally sits next to you or someone who works in a completely different region. When you come together, you get to know that person and you work stronger at making a more cohesive team,” said Vicki Hamilton-Allen, executive director, Habitat for Humanity Lansing.
Monday was a multi-generational and cross-departmental build, something all of us enjoyed. Now women from several local companies are following our lead and going to continue the Women Build for Habitat for Humanity this week.
