Four charged in fatal officer shooting in Hattiesburg, Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI (WLNS) – Four people are expected in court today related to a deadly shooting that left two police officers dead.

It happened during a traffic stop Saturday night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. It is still early in the investigation but officials say it looks like 34-year-old police officer Benjamin Deen pulled a vehicle over for speeding then called for back-up. That is when 25-year-old police officer Liquori Tate arrived on scene and shots were fired.

Police arrested all four suspects involved soon after. 22-year-old Joanie Calloway and 29-year-old Marvin Banks are charged with capital murder. Bank’s brother Curtis is charged with accessory to capital murder. The fourth person in the car, Cornelius Clark, is charged with obstruction of justice.
