Hamlin Township fire, barn a total loss

EATON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – An Eaton County man is recovering this morning from burns and the loss of several pigs after flames destroyed his barn.

According to Hamlin Township fire officials, crews responded to the 6000 block of South Royston Road just after 5 Thursday evening.

The duty chief says the man tried to save some pigs in the barn but ended up getting minor burns. Fire investigators are not sure how many pigs were killed.

Crews worked for roughly 5 hours but say the barn is a total loss.
