Jackson’s Mayor Announces Run For State House

JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – 6 News told you that the mayor of Jackson said he is not planning to run for reelection and now he’s revealed why.

Jackson Mayor Jason Smith says he plans to run for the state house of representatives.

Mayor Smith tells 6 News he’s looking to take over Earl Poleski’s seat in the 64th district when term limits take place next year.

The time is right for a fresh face in Lansing to work towards the needs of the city and county of Jackson, says Mayor Smith.

So far Jackson’s mayor hasn’t decided if he’ll run as a member of a party o try to make it on the ballot as an independent.
