DALLAS, TEXAS (WLNS) – A Dallas, Texas suburb is on the edge this morning after two men were shot and killed outside of a community center.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the city of Garland said two men drove up to the building and started shooting at a security officer. Police responded and after a shootout, the suspects were killed.
Inside the community center a large group had gathered and was hosting a contest to see who could draw the best cartoon depiction of the Prophet Muhammad.
Investigators are looking into whether or not the shooting was in response to the event. A bomb squad was also called in but did not find anything in the suspects’ vehicle.
The security officer was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive his injuries.
