(WLNS) – Bringing a soccer field to downtown Lansing is the goal behind a crowdfunding campaign that now underway.
6 News first told you about the Beacon Soccer Field project last week. Organizers have launched the crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $60,000, all to be raised before May 22.
That dollar total is important because the Michigan Economic Development Corporation will provide a $60,000 grant if the goal is reached before the deadline.
“We are pleased to team up with the Capital Area Soccer League and the entire community to help create the kind of space that will provide lasting benefits for Lansing-area families for years to come,” said MEDC Community Development Director Katharine Czarnecki.
The park is to be located at Ferris Park, two blocks north of the State Capitol. It will feature a synthetic turf field, solar lighting and kick boards around the field.
