JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – Michigan International Speedway and Consumers Energy are two of the most prominent businesses in the area.
Consumers Energy provides electricity and natural gas to homes and businesses all across the state and Michigan International Speedway holds several of the biggest entertainment events in the region.
“We know with MIS being such a large user of energy we knew this was a great opportunity to help them out,” said Brian Wheeler, Consumers Energy.
What you might not know is that between their solar panels and recycling program, Michigan International Speedway is committed to going green. It’s their partnership with Consumers Energy that makes the difference.
“They have found ways that, very easily for us, and any business can do this, can save money without making investments,” said Josh Burgett, SR. Dir. of Corporate Partnerships, Michigan International Speedway.
Consumers and MIS are now in their second year of the partnership.
Josh Burgett of MIS says ever since they decided to join forces energy costs and usage have gone down and he says it was an easy transition.
“While MIS is a very large customer of ours who can really benefit and make a big difference, they different things they’re doing are available to everybody else on a different scale too,” said Brian Wheeler, Consumers Energy.
The partnership will continue to make a difference and on Friday MIS and Consumers will announce that they’re going to plant 50,000 trees across the state.
