LANSING, MI (WLNS) – While it is spring, it is feeling more like winter these days.
We saw snow on Wednesday and some may see a few more flakes this morning meaning bad news for farmers. As they get ready to harvest their crops for the season the cold snap could be getting in the way of that.
We checked in with the owner of Country Mill in Charlotte Steve Tennis who says cold weather could negatively impact thousands of his apple trees which are staring to bud.
Tennis told us 27 degrees is enough to damage about 10 percent of his crop. But it is more than just the temperature Tennis says he has to watch. The dew point also plays a role in whether or not the buds will bloom. He says he will start harvesting in early August and hopes to have a nice big crop.
