EAST LANSING, MI (AP) – The man who shepherded Detroit through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history is scheduled to speak during an event in East Lansing.
The Lansing Regional Chamber says Kevyn Orr will deliver the keynote Thursday at its April Economic Club Luncheon at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Michigan State University.
Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Orr as Detroit’s emergency manager in March 2013. Under Orr, Detroit filed for bankruptcy that July.
Orr stepped down in December 2014 as Detroit emerged from Chapter 9. Plans call for the city to restructure $7 billion in debt, while using $1.7 billion over a decade to improve services for residents.
Orr currently is special counsel to Atlantic City, New Jersey, emergency manager Kevin Lavin.
