Capital Area Humane Society Raising Funds To Renovate Facility

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Officials with the Capital Area Humane Society have just launched their New Home, New Hope campaign.

The group is trying to raise about $4 million for renovations and expansions to their current animal shelter.

The improvements would be done in two phases. One would cost about $2 million and include a new animal intake and cruelty department. It would renovate their cat adoption center and main lobby.

“We’ve struggled for a long time with our facility so I think it was a matter of making a decision on the board level and then forming a committee and starting the ground work as necessary to build a capital campaign. So we’ve spent the last year fund raising for this campaign,” said Julia Wilson, president and CEO, Capital Area Humane Society.

To finish phase 2 the shelter would need another $2 million to add a new clinical center and renovate the main adoption area.
