PORTAGE, MI (WLNS) – After a woman lost six dogs and two birds in a house fire in February, she was devastated.

Now just a few days after she buried their bodies, our media partners at MLive say officials donated a dog to her.

Lanchi Rohall wanted to bury the dogs once the ground had thawed, so Allegan Veterinary Clinic held onto the dogs.

Her new Pomeranian, donated by Portage Public Safety officers is already receiving lots of attention.

Teddy, the Pomeranian was rescued in the Flint area. A dispatcher researched for the perfect dog for a while.

Fire, police and individual patrol officers all contributed to get Rohall a new dog.

“They say God works in mysterious ways,” said Rohall.
