LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – Officials say two Livingston County sheriff’s deputies were accidentally tased less than a minute apart from each other while trying to subdue an inmate Tuesday morning.
It happened inside the Livingston County jail.
Officials say a man facing felony assault charges was inside a cell when deputies opened the door to put another inmate in it.
The man tried to walk out of the cell and told deputies he was hearing voices.
When they tried to get him into an isolation cell, officials say he started fighting them.
Three sheriff’s deputy wrestled with him inside the 8×6 foot cell.
That’s when someone tried to Taser the inmate, but hit a deputy instead.
Then, 30 seconds later another deputy was accidentally shot with the Taser.
Both of the deputies are okay.
Officials say if the incident happened because of drugs, the inmate will face charges, but if it’s a mental health issue, he will not.
