Escaped Prisoner Back Behind Bars

(WLNS) – A prisoner out east who escaped from a hospital with a guard’s gun is back in custody Tuesday night.

It happened in North Virginia just outside of Washington.

The suspect was caught in D.C. a short while later.

Authorities say the gun actually went off as a prisoner wrestled with the guard at the hospital in Falls Church, Virginia Tuesday morning.

The prisoner then took off, still wearing his hospital gown.

He apparently carjacked someone a few miles away.

Then police say he ditched that car and carjacked a second one.

D.C. police had him in custody around noon. The prisoner was originally behind bars for robbing a bank.

Officials say he was taken to the hospital last week after trying to kill himself.
