Construction Begins On New Meridian Township Fire Station

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – It is a big day for the Meridian Township Fire Department.

After months of debate officials plan to break ground this morning and kickoff construction on a brand new fire station. The fire station will be built at the corner of Central Park Drive and Okemos Road in Okemos. Voters approved a $3.5 million bond to build it back in 2012 but issues with high construction quotes put the project way behind schedule.

The new station will replace the former Central Fire Station that closed February of last year because of poor building conditions.

Everyone is welcome to the ground breaking ceremony. It starts at 11 a.m.
