UPDATE: Heating Stove Tied To Morning Fire

(WLNS) – Fire investigators say a pellet stove is the likely cause of an early morning fire in Ingham County.

The first call came in just before 6:00 a.m. that fire was seen on a porch at a home on the 1300 block of Okemos Road near Mason. Fire crews tell 6 News that one person in the house had escaped uninjured from the home and was safe when firefighters arrived.

There was smoke damage to the house. The stove was located on a porch area.

Firefighters remind people to always have working smoke detectors and an escape plan in case of a fire.
