Lawmakers Working To End Human Trafficking In Lansing

(WLNS) – A state senator hosted the second annual Shine a Light on Human Trafficking Day at the Capitol Wednesday.

The event, called Phase Two: Keys to the Future is part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness about the crime and to support to the many victims.

“It is a crime that is easily hidden, it’s a crime that effects every sector of the society, every sector of the economy in Michigan, and more importantly it is a crime that is reaching a younger and younger age,” said Senator Judy Emmons, (r), Sheridan.

Senator Judy Emmons who sponsored the effort to crack down on human trafficking in Michigan says the focus is now on supporting victims and helping law enforcement.
