Jackson Man Shot During Robbery Attempt

(WLNS) – What started out as a good deed ended with a gunshot wound for a Jackson man.

Today police are searching for a suspect they say shot a man in the shoulder last night during a struggle inside a car. The victim tells police that just after 11:30 last night he offered a man a ride to a man from Woolly Bully’s Bar to the area of Merriman and Barberry. While the two men were in the car the suspect pulled a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The men began to fight and the victim was shot once in the shoulder.

The suspect jumped out of the car and ran away. The victim drove himself to Allegiance Hospital and he was treated for his injury. According to police the suspect is described as a black male, 30 years old, approximately six-feet tall with no facial hair. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing.
