(WLNS) – A national organization dedicated to finding out the most pressing health issues facing Americans has just come out with a new report.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation looked at every county in the U.S. to find out how healthy they are.
The county health rankings look at a range of 30 factors including poverty, education and violent crime rates. It is no surprise some counties ranked higher than others but we did see two mid-Michigan counties in the top ten. Clinton and Livingston counties came in at 6th and 7th place. Eaton landed in the top 20 in the 19th spot. Ingham and Jackson ranked much lower at 42 and 52.
The report also looked at national numbers finding that premature deaths are dropping in 60 percent of counties across the country. Researchers also found that one in four children in the U.S. are living in poverty.
This is the 6th year for the rankings.
