(WLNS) – If you go places by taking advantage of the driving service Uber there is legislation circulating in the state senate that could change how the company operates.

Senator Rick Jones just introduced legislation to put Uber on the same playing field as traditional taxi’s. He says the Michigan Department of Transportation sent Uber a letter claiming the company violated road safety by not following protocol for who they hire as drivers.

Uber says that is not true.

Meantime local taxicab companies say Uber drivers do not have to register the same way they do.

Senator Jones told 6 News he hopes to hold a meeting with all players on the field soon to bring everyone on the same page.
