Armed Robbery Suspects In Custody After Bizarre Incident Near Albion College

CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – What started as a robbery in Calhoun County ended after a bizarre series of events.

Around 9 Thursday night 911 dispatchers took a call from someone in Albion saying they had just been robbed by two people one carrying a pistol, the other a shotgun. According to public safety officials those people took off in a vehicle but the victim hopped in their car, and started following. That is when police say the suspects started shooting back at the car.

By now police officers had joined the chase but a patrol car and a K9 unit crashed into each other. Luckily no one was hurt but their vehicles were crushed.

Eventually Albion officers caught up with the suspect’s car in the parking lot of an Albion College apartment complex. A K9 unit tracked the two people down and officers arrested them.

Police believe a third person may be involved.

The college was put on lock-down for a short time as a precaution.
