Parents Charged With Child Abuse, Accused Of Forcing Son To Live In Basement

DEERFIELD TWP., MI (WLNS) – A Deerfield Township couple is facing felony child abuse charges after they were accused of forcing their son to live in the basement of their home.

Officials say Eric and Angela Corcoran forced their 16-year-old adopted son to live in the basement of their Bennett Lake Road home.

The couple was arraigned Wednesday morning on second degree child abuse charges and a $500,000 cash/surety bond was set.

According to Child Protective Services, the boy was only allowed in the main living area of the home, from other family members.

Court documents say the 43-year-olds forced the boy to use the bathroom in a camper toilet.

The teen is in foster care right now.
