Livingston Hosts Town Hall Meeting Regarding May Ballot Proposal

HOWELL, MI (WLNS) – With pothole season in full swing and commercials for the May ballot proposal also appearing, local officials wants to make sure you are informed about exactly what is on the ballot.

The Livingston County Board of Commissioners is hosting a town hall meeting tonight. The proposal calls for an increase in the sales tax. It also eliminates the gas tax and instead creates a wholesale tax on fuel.

If voters approve the proposal it could raise more than a billion dollars a year for roads while also generating money for schools, transportation and local governments.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 at the public safety complex in Howell.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
