Snowmobiler Hit By Car, Killed While Crossing Road

EMPIRE TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – A snowmobiler has died after being hit by a car as he crossed a northern Michigan road.

Our media partners at MLive say the 72-year-old man from Beulah was hit about 1:20 p.m. Friday in Leelanau County’s Empire Township, west of Traverse City.

His name was not released.

Police say he was trailing two other snowmobilers who crossed the road safely. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Leelanau County Undersheriff Steve Morgan said the car’s driver and passenger were not injured.
