(WLNS) – When it comes to roads and weather, the real question is how tough has winter been on budgets in Michigan.
6 News put that question to the head of the Michigan Department of Transportation.
“It’s a heavy winter. It’s not as, I don’t think, as bad as last year. The salt quantities seem to be a little bit better. It’s still going to be rough it’s not like a couple winters ago where we were ready to mow grass in March so we’re hanging in there it’s not as bad as last year,” said Kirk Steudle, director, MDOT.
Last year many counties ran out of salt to spread when the roads were icy and funds to purchase more salt. As far as the winter season this year, Michigan’s budget is still intact for now.
