(WLNS) – 6 News Capitol Correspondent Tim Skubick spoke to the president of the University of Michigan about the damage done by fraternities at some ski resorts up north.
Ceiling tiles were ripped off, there was furniture damage and food on the walls.
The total for the damage was more than $100,000. 6 News Capitol Correspondent Tim asked president Mark Schlissel what he would do if it were his kids getting in the same trouble.
“They’d be dealt with first by the local law enforcement and then the university who will consider their actions in alignment with our behavioral norms and presumably punished and I would have stood by that punishment,” said Mark Schlissel, U of M, president.
Reporter: “Do you think they should be prosecuted?”
Schlissel: “I think if they committed violations of the law, of course they should be prosecuted.”
Reporter: “Well the parents aren’t going to like that. They have to be responsible?”
Schlissel: “We all have to be responsible, those kids are young adults.”
Michigan State Police are still conducting their own investigation.
