(WLNS) – It’s a day that many of us look forward to all year. The Girl Scout cookies have arrived. Boxes of cookies were unloaded from a semi-truck at a couple of locations today around mid-Michigan.
From there they’ll be distributed to the scouts who will then deliver them to customers.
Organizers say it’s so much more than just raising money.
“The girls learn five amazing life skills by participating in the Girl Scout cookie program. Honestly they learn about budgeting, money management, goal setting, and decision making and one of my favorites: business ethnics,” said Stacy Jenkins, product program specialist, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
More than 20,000 cases of cookies were delivered to the area Monday and Tuesday and over 200 million will be sold in the country.
There are two new ones this year that are gluten free, Toffee-Tastic and Trios. There’s also a new cookie that includes Greek yogurt-flavored chunks, called Rah-Rah Raisins.
