Crews Cleaning Chemical Spill On MSU Campus

UPDATE (2:16 pm) – One person was sent to the hospital as a precaution after a chemical release at Michigan State University on Tuesday.

It happened between 12 and 1 p.m.

MSU Police tell 6 News several employees were working with chemicals when an odor tripped the alarm.

Some of the people were evacuated from the building on Shaw Lane while emergency crews rushed in to handle the situation.


(WLNS) – Crews are cleaning up after a chemical release at the Cyclotron Lab in the F-RIB building on Shaw Lane this afternoon. It is not known at this time what chemicals were spilled but a portion of the building was evacuated.

6 News is told there is no danger to the public. Police, fire and environmental health and safety teams are working to contain and clean the site at this hour.

As of now there are no reports of injuries.
