UPDATE: 10:47 a.m. Feb. 23 (WLNS) – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of the victim in Saturday’s fatal rollover accident. The victim has been identified as Woodrow Williams a 92 year old man from Detroit, Michigan.
Original Report: JACKSON COUNTY (WLNS) – A 94 year-old man is dead and three others are in the hospital following a rollover accident.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand, it happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on I-94 in Sandstone Township.
A 2004 GMC Envoy was traveling in the westbound lanes between Deering and Sandstone Roads, when witnesses say the vehicle lost control and rolled over several times.
The three other passengers in the car at the time were taken to Allegiance Health hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office traffic crash investigators are on scene now piecing together what happened.
At this time, one lane of the westbound traffic is opened, however police say to expect intermittent closures as they work to investigate.
