Lansing Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief

(WLNS) – A sharp-eyed Lansing Police officer is being credited today with spotting and arresting a suspected car thief.

It all began last night at 7:00 p.m. when police were called to the 300 block of West Miller Road. They found a 61-year-old man who had parked his car in the driveway and went inside the house there. A few minutes later he went back outside and the car was gone. He was able to give police a detailed description that was broadcast to officers.

About two hours later an officer spotted a car matching the description in the area of Miller and Pleasant Grove Roads. The officer attempted to stop the suspect but the driver would not stop. There was a short pursuit until the car got stuck in the snow at Pleasant Grove and Moffit.

The 37-year-old suspect was arrested without incident and the car was returned to its owner.
