Bond Denied In Road Rage Shooting Case

(WLNS) – A man who police say shot and killed another driver after a road rage incident last fall is not being granted bond before he heads to trial.

It all happened in Livingston County. According to our media partners at WHMI, 69-year-old Martin Zale has been held without bond since September.

He will continue to be after a judge denied his request for release before his trial is set to start in March.

Zale also had a bond request turned down back in October.

Police say 43-year-old Derek Flemming was shot in the head after he got into an argument with Zale at the intersection of Grand River and Chilson Road in Genoa Township.

Officials say Flemming got out of his car to ask Zale about his aggressive driving, before they say he was shot.

Zale’s attorney says she will argue the shooting was in self-defense.
