Jackson Police Investigating Homicide After Man Stabbed To Death

JACKSON, MI (WLNS) –  Jackson police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead around 5 p.m. Saturday evening on the 800 block of Steward Ave.

At this point, police aren’t releasing many details but do say they are still trying to figure out who killed him.

And while they have not released the victim’s name, 6 News reporter Alexandra Ilitch spoke with people who not only knew the man, but were on the scene shortly after he was stabbed.

“We saw cops, the ambulance, the fire truck.. They were all here and we were wondering what happened,” Manpreet Singh said.

Singh said it was quite the scene in her store parking lot this weekend after a 49 year-old man from Jackson was stabbed in his home just before 5 p.m. on Saturday.

“We were wondering what happened, so we went out to see and there was cops, they had their guns out, going in to see what happened,” she said.

Singh not only works next door, but also owns the house where the man and his girlfriend were living.

She said she knew the man very well and that he’s been a customer of hers for years.

Singh said the man who was killed, and his girlfriend moved in just a month ago.

“We just rented it out to them, so they just moved in,” she said. “They’re in the process of moving in and they’re really good customers.”

According to police the man was taken to Allegiance Hospital where he died from stab wounds shortly after.

At this point, police don’t have a suspect in custody.

Singh said the man’s girlfriend was home at the time and interviewed by detectives.

And while police aren’t officially releasing the man’s name tonight, news of his death is spreading through his inner circle and his closest friends like Roger Horsch said he’s in shock.

“He was my best friend of over 40 years since we were 4th grade and I miss him dearly,” Horsch said. “He was a great family man, loved by everyone.”

Police are expected to release more official information about the victim and this investigation in the coming days.
